How do I see live Dublin Bus positions?

Select one or more routes from the sidebar on the left. The map will immediately show all buses currently running on those routes, updated every 15 seconds from the NTA GTFS-Realtime feed.

Can I track multiple Dublin Bus routes at once?

Yes. Click any number of routes in the sidebar to select them simultaneously. All selected routes are shown on the map at the same time, each with their route path drawn.

How do I find which bus routes serve my area?

Type a stop or area name into the search box — for example 'Sallynoggin', 'Stillorgan', or 'Glasnevin'. The list will filter to show only routes that stop there.

Can I bookmark my daily bus routes?

Yes, in two ways. Star a route (★) to save it as a favourite in your browser — click 'Load' to restore them next time. Or simply bookmark the URL — selected routes are saved in the URL so sharing or bookmarking restores your exact view.

How often is the bus position data updated?

Live positions are fetched from the National Transport Authority GTFS-Realtime API every 15 seconds. The NTA updates vehicle positions approximately every 15–30 seconds.

What does the arrow and colour on each bus icon mean?

Blue icons with a ↙ arrow are outbound buses heading away from the city centre. Green icons with a ↗ arrow are inbound buses heading towards the city centre. The destination shown above the icon tells you exactly where that bus is going.

Does this app show ghost buses?

No. Dublin Bus is notorious for ghost buses — timetabled services that never actually appear. This map only shows buses that are actively broadcasting a real-time GPS position via the NTA GTFS-Realtime feed. If a bus isn't physically on the road and transmitting, it won't appear on the map. What you see is what's actually running.
